Christy Wegener

Wegener is the co-founder of Conduit Films, focusing on feature documentaries and series that explore social, cultural and political turning points. The company is also hired to create short-form branded content for non-profits, campaigns and events.

Through her Conduit banner and in partnership with Netflix and the production company, Story Syndicate, Conduit produced the Emmy-nominated feature documentary, I AM VANESSA GUILLEN, released in November of 2022. The film tells the story of Vanessa Guillen, a U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Hood, a Texas Army base with a controversial reputation. Guillen disappeared from post in April of 2020 after revealing to her mother that she was being sexually harassed. Her story sparked an international movement of assault victims demanding justice, and this powerful film follows her family’s fight for historic military reform, a journey that takes them all the way to the Oval Office. In addition to the Emmy nomination, the film has received two Imagen Award nominations and two RealScreen nominations.

Prior to founding Conduit Films, Wegener was a showrunner, writer and director, working in non-fiction and narrative. She’s produced numerous films and TV series, including the hit PBS series, AMERICA OUTDOORS for Part2Pictures, five seasons of Oprah’s NAACP and EMMY award-winning biography series, MASTERCLASS for RadicalMedia and the feature documentary, THE DARK SIDE OF THE SUN, airing on Discovery, which was narrated by Grammy-winning artist Sting and directed by twice Oscar-nominated filmmaker Nathaniel Kahn.

With a background in civil rights and journalism, Christy worked in the non-profit sector for the LA-based Police Assessment Resource Center on issues such as gender and racial discrimination in police departments. She graduated from the University of Southern California, holding a Masters degree in Cinematic Arts & Writing and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology & Journalism. She also studied Spanish and Mexican History at the Universidad de Guanajuato in Mexico.
